June 18, 1980: Omega Steel is founded by Greg Semmel and begins operations as a steel distributor.
1981: Omega Steel relocates to a warehouse and evolves into a stocking distributor.
1997: Omega Steel acquires Sligo Steel, a structural steel company in Saint Louis, Missouri, and the oldest steel company west of the Mississippi River.
1997: A warehouse fire leads to the relocation of Omega Steel to Bridgeton, Missouri.
2000: Omega establishes Premium Pipe to create a stocking program for API line pipe.
2000: Omega purchases its first pipe yard, a 16-acre site with a 140,000 sq ft warehouse in Madison, IL.
2005-2006: Greg Semmel, owner of Omega Steel, is elected president of the National Association of Steel Pipe Distributors (NASPD).
2012: Omega partners with Certified Pipe Services, a third-party service provider and storage company, and begins shifting inventory from Saint Louis, Missouri to Houston, Texas.
2020: Omega Steel and Premium Pipe consolidate under the name Omega Steel. Focus shifts solely to high yield API line pipe.
2021: Omega Steel begins partnership with Patriot Pipe services to establish a second inventory location in Houston, Texas.
